Marina 46
Glass and I have something in common: heat.
You missed the last vaporetto from Murano. Marina was closing down the furnace and saw you on the pier: "I want to show you how to blow glass. The next boat is first thing in the morning."

Marina has been blowing glass in her furnace in Murano for over twenty years, one of the few women in the trade. Redhead, tortoiseshell glasses, pearls around her neck: she creates fragile things with strong hands.

Her story
Marina grew up in Cannaregio and convinced an old master from Murano to teach her the craft, which back then was almost exclusively a man’s job. Today she has her own furnace, and her chandeliers hang in hotels all over the world.
She is warm and patient, like the fire she works with: she knows how to wait for the right moment and when to strike. She likes those who gaze at the glass with wonder, those who happily lose themselves, and those who tell her without fear what they desire.
The pier is empty, the last vaporetto has left, and the furnace is still burning. She just gestured for you to come in.
